Several hundred thousand transit transactions per year across 17 countries– The TransitNet online platform has established itself as a complete solution for NCTS transit operations. Increasing numbers of companies use the web-based application from the product testing group SGS. Customers can use the software to independently open customs declarations and continuously monitor their status. SGS also assumes the guarantee required for initiating the procedure on behalf of the customs authorities.

Companies that transport goods across borders in transit need to declare the transit at the customs and guarantee the payment of import duties. In Germany, this concerns e.g. the transits of goods via point of entries such as Frankfurt Airport, the docks in Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Duisburg, or even at the border to Switzerland. If bonded goods are transported in the trade zones of the European Union (EU), the European Free Trade Area (EFTA) and Turkey and Serbia, transit declarations (T1/T2) must be submitted IT-assisted in the new computerised transit system (NCTS).

"TransitNet gives direct access to the NCTS system and is currently linked to the responsible customs authorities in 17 countries ", explains customs expert Thomas Munsters from the product testing group SGS. "The online-based system enables transit operations to be registered with the customs offices of destination and departure inside and outside the EU, simply and legally watertight. SGS assumes the required guarantee." If required, local teams assist with coordination with the authorities and enable accelerated handling," says Munsters.
