SGS-TÜV Saar certifies Allegro MicroSystems, LLC for ISO 26262
SGS has certified Allegro MicroSystems according to the international automotive standard ISO 26262. The certificate was given by the certification company’s Global Competence Center for Functional Safety SGS-TÜV Saar in Munich.
This confirms that Allegro develops according to ISO 26262 and thus established a consistent, standard-compliant safety standard in the process chain. The certification confirms the creation of an active Functional Safety culture as important corporate objective and employees have undergone extensive training as part of our commitment to the automotive market.
“This is a very important milestone for Allegro that reinforces our strong dedication to our automotive customers to provide safe and reliable components, designed in compliance with this state-of-the-art standard,” said Lisa Clark, Functional Safety Manager of Allegro.
SGS-TÜV Saar confirms this as well: “A process certificate according to ISO 26262 demonstrates that companies have understood the importance of Functional Safety and the significance and purpose of the certification. Based on this, Allegro is in an excellent position to carry out future safety developments using efficient processes,” says Martin Schmidt, Head of the Global Competence Center Functional Safety at SGS-TÜV Saar.
Advantages of ISO 26262
The standard ISO 26262 that has been valid since 2011 establishes the rules for the safety processes and sets out requirements for the development of safety-related electrical and electronic systems in motor vehicles. It creates a consistent standard that is understandable and comprehensible for all parties involved in the development process. In addition, it saves costs as the generically transparent and traceable process in the supplier’s operations no longer requires on-site verification by the OEM.
