South Korea is consulting over its proposed amendment to the Common Safety Standard for children’s products. The revision is proposed to enter into force in June 2020 at the earliest.
Maine, USA, Revises Proposal For Designating PFOS as a Priority Chemical For Reporting

The US state of Maine is reposting a revised proposal to designate PFOS as a priority chemical for reporting requirements. If approved, intentionally added PFOS is required to be reported within 180 days after the effective date of the final rule.
EU References EN 71-3:2019 for Presumption of Conformity with Toy Safety Directive

EU Raises Restriction Proposal under REACH on Skin Sensitising Substances in Textile and Leather Articles

The authorities of France and Sweden have jointly submitted a restriction proposal for skin sensitising substances under the European Chemicals Regulation (REACH), with the intent to restrict skin allergens in articles made of textiles, leather, fur and hides.
US CPSC Proposes to Exempt Certain Fibers from Testing

The CPSC proposes to exempt several unfinished manufactured fibers in toys and childcare articles from undergoing third party testing. If approved, these will become effective 30 days after publication of the final rule.
Stakeholder Consultation on Four Substances Under EU RoHS 2

Denmark to Prohibit PFAS Chemicals in Food Contact Paper and Paperboard

Denmark has completed a consultation on its draft Ordinance on, among other things, the prohibition of PFAS chemicals in food contact paper and paperboard materials and articles. The provisions are proposed to become effective on July 1, 2020.
