Agriculture and Food SeedGuard Quality Standard Certification
SeedGuard certification services from SGS – ensure a more environmentally and user-friendly seed treatment.
Showcase the quality of your seed treatments with voluntary certification against the SeedGuard Quality Standard. As a SeedGuard approved certification body we can support your application to display the standard’s Quality Seal.
Our specially qualified auditors will perform independent controls to check if your treatments fulfill the SeedGuard criteria. The checklist comprises more than 60 criteria across the whole process, from testing the stability of the treatment recipe and the technical processing of the seeds, to the packaging and storage of treated end-product.
The SeedGuard certification is available for the following crops:
- Sugar Beet
On successful certification, you are allowed to use the SeedGuard Quality Seal, in the form of a protected trademark, to demonstrate that you guarantee the utmost environment and health protection within your seed treatment process, as well as for your resulting end-products.
What is SeedGuard?
The SeedGuard Association for Seed Quality, based in Germany, developed this Quality Standard following several incidents of bees dying that were related to the abrasion and release of insecticidal seed treatment dust, and the resulting government pressure. The Association was founded in 2011 and is supported by the seed production and chemical industry.
Why choose SGS?
We have been involved in SeedGuard since the pilot auditing phase for this standard and our experts and auditors have been able to contribute.
