Effective energy management systems (EnMS) help your organization to establish processes to improve energy performance. Implementation should reduce your energy costs, Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and other environmental impacts. ISO 50001 establishes an international framework for the supply, use and consumption of energy in industrial, commercial and institutional organizations.

Implement an ISO 50001 compliant sustainable energy management system and demonstrate that your organization has completed a baseline of energy use and is committed to continuously improving its energy intensity.

SGS with its global network of qualified energy management professionals can help you through the process towards becoming ISO 50001 certified with training, gap assessment and certification audits.

Achieve ISO 50001 certification with independent assessment and audit from SGS to stand out from the competition and commit to energy efficiency.

Tax Cap and Energy-Saving Efficiency System Regulation (SpaEfV): Using tax benefits through tax caps

In Germany, ISO 50001 is required for the reimbursement of the EEG levy in accordance with §41 of the German Renewable Energy Act (EEG).

In addition, as of 2013, tax caps, according to § 10 of the Electricity Tax Act (StromStG)are linked to the implementation of an energy management system as defined by ISO 50001 or an environmental management system in accordance with the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS). For small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), it is sufficient to conduct independent energy audits in accordance with DIN EN 16427-1 or to verifiably implement an alternative system as defined in Annex 2 to the Tax Cap and Energy-Saving Efficiency System Regulation (SpaEfV), which went into effect on 6 August 2013.

SGS is the right partner for all of the alternatives described. We will gladly assist you in obtaining potential tax reductions through sustainable improvement in your company’s energy efficiency.

The training and consultation services described, such as GAP analyses, are provided by the “Training and Seminar” department of SGS Germany GmbH.
